Centre that is making a difference to help the disabled

President Halimah Yacob, who toured the ABLE centre in Toa Payoh, commended the efforts made to help people with disabilities to re-enter the workforce.

During her visit on May 28, the President saw first-hand how the centre – Abilities Beyond Limitations and Expectations (ABLE) – has been reaching out to persons from all walks of life, to enable persons with disabilities to live with dignity.

At a door-stop interview, she urged employers to have progressive employment practices so that they can provide a supportive environment to persons with disabilities. She also urged employers to do their part and “be more receptive of persons with disabilities to work and earn a living and have self-esteem”.

It was with great anticipation that some 30 people from Singapore travelled to Spain for the beatification of Guadalupe Ortiz, first lay woman member of the Opus Dei to be raised to the altars, on May 18, 2019 in Madrid, Spain.

The atmosphere was magical with a spirit of joy filling their hearts as about 12,000 people welcomed the official announcement at the Palacio Vistalegre Arena located about 30 minutes from the city centre of Madrid.
The beautiful choir led all gathered in choral music during the Eucharistic celebration presided by Cardinal Angelo Becciu, Prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints.
