Theresa Yoong, the chairperson of the dinner and dance committee that coordinates the fund raising, said that the project sees different youth groups working together for a common cause. In the parish of the Holy Trinity, about 500 books were sold in the first two weeks of sales, with another 200 in subsequent weeks, raising about $2,800 for the catechism programme.
The catechists roped in their families to be present at the weekend Masses to help sell the pictorial biography of the late pope. They packaged it as a Christmas gift. "It's suitable as a table gift, a memory to the pope," said Lawrence Nonis, the Confirmation programme coordinator of the parish. "The price is right, and the quality is good."
