SINGAPORE – The Charity Fun Day kicked off with the roar of Harley motorcycles as Ms Ho Ching, patron of the Assisi Hospice, arrived on the school grounds of St. Joseph’s Institution International on one, escorted by members of Harley Davidson Singapore (photo).

Co-organized by City Developments Limited and CBM Pte Ltd, the fun-filled day of food, shopping and games drew a crowd of 12,000 supporters. Several local celebrities also lent their support to raise funds for the hospice.

All in all, the event was a smashing success. With the help of its sponsors, donors, staff and volunteers, the event is expected to raise $650,000, way above its target of half a million.

With an expected increase in spending of $6 million or more, every dollar counts towards making the hospice a more comfortable place for its patients and their families. Last year, the hospice saw over 1,000 adult and children admissions, an increase of nearly 200 from the year 2006. All the proceeds from the Charity Fun Day will thus go towards the expansion and improvement of the Assisi Hospice’s three core services of in-patient care, home care, and day care services.
