SINGAPORE – A weekend workshop to train facilitators to lead small group Bible study was organised by the Singapore Archdiocese Biblical Apostolate Team (SABAT) from May 16-17 at the Singapore Pastoral Institute. The workshop, organised in line with this year’s Bible Sunday (Jul 12) theme, “The God Who Speaks”, attracted some 55 participants from 14 parishes.

Many of the participants are already involved in Bible programmes, and they found the workshop helped them to feel more confident about leading small group discussions. It made them realise that they do not have to be a master of the Bible to be able to facilitate. Besides learning techniques, they also learnt to pray conversationally and to allow the Holy Spirit to work within the group, during the sessions.
Participants felt that there should be more such training in parishes so as to enable more parishioners to share the Word of God in small groups. n
