SINGAPORE - About 150 youths from various religious organizations and schools gathered at the Singapore Management University (SMU) on Jan 27 for a forum to connect youths of different religions and give them a better understanding of the different faiths. The Singapore Inter-Faith Youth Forum 2007, was initiated by Cell Lim, a Buddhist youth.

Twenty six representatives from nine different religions, including three Catholics, participated in this forum at the end of which they "graduated" as Singapore Inter- Faith Youth leaders. They had previously attended a camp and made study trips to different religious sites - at the parish of St. Mary of the Angels they attended Mass and a Bible study session. Brother Michael Broughton, FSC, said, "These participants will become ambassadors of good will and dialogue."

The guest of honour for the session was MP Teo Ser Luck, Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of CommunityDevelopment, Youth and Sports. Mr Teo, a Catholic convert from the parish of St. Vincent De Paul, feels this will "benefit all religions".
