Cathedral of the Good Shepherd

The Cathedral of the Good Shepherd and the Church of Sts Peter and Paul are participating in the Singapore Night Festival to be held in the Bras Basah-Bugis area.

The festival is a celebration of arts, culture and heritage, and was introduced in 2008.

According to cathedral rector, Msgr Philip Heng, the cathedral will take part on the upcoming two Fridays and Saturdays, i.e. Aug 18, 19, 25 and 26, from 7.30 pm to midnight.

The theme of the cathedral’s celebration is "Peace and Harmony in Singapore and the World".

The hope is to get as many people as possible who are participating in the festival, especially non-Christians, to light votive candles for peace and harmony at the cathedral, said Msgr Heng.

Participants can also sign and write their message of peace and harmony on a long scroll.

There will also be heritage tours and contemplation on the theme of peace and harmony, said Msgr Heng.

The Church of Sts Peter and Paul received the URA Architectural Heritage Award for Restoration 4
