Catholics who wish to take up the Certificate in Theology course at the Catholic Theological Institute of Singapore (CTIS) can now apply for a grant.
The Catholic Foundation is providing the grant for one parishioner per parish to study the course during the second semester of 2015.
According to CTIS, 11 parishes have so far taken up the grant. Twenty other parishes have yet to nominate a parishioner for the course.
The grants are meant to be used for the 2015 academic year and cover only the fees. They do not cover textbooks or other incidentals.
The grants will expire if not utilised, says CTIS rector, Fr James Yeo. Catholics who are interested in these grants can approach their parish priests.
Registrations close on July 3.
Since CTIS’ inception in 2014, it has enrolled 270 students of whom 23 completed their Certificate in Theology last November.
In 2015, CTIS introduced the Diploma in Theology. Nineteen students are currently pursuing it. More are expected to take up the course in August after completing their certificate course this semester.
