001.jpgSINGAPORE – Archbishop Nicholas Chia celebrated the World Day of Sanctification of Priests at the Church of the Holy Trinity on Wednesday Aug 16. He reminded the priests present that the sacrament of holy orders has enabled them "weak and humble human beings… to act in persona Christi".

Above, priests from the Singapore Archdiocese gathered in the chapel of Church of the Holy Trinity for Mass celebrated by Archbishop Nicholas Chia.

"The Lord has laid his hand upon us and he wants ours, so our hands can now be his upon the world," the archbishop said in his homily. "By putting ourselves in the service of his love, he can pass on his divine touch (to us)… to shape the world with love."

With this, he reminded his brother priests to "serve with a life that is stronger than death… and with a love that is stronger than hatred," made possible only because Christ is present with them.

Archbishop Chia also urged his fellow priests to work to achieve a deeper communion with Christ because they would not be able to bring Christ to people if they did not have him within.

"It is of vital importance that we take prayer seriously to be in communion with Christ. Only in this way (being a friend of Jesus) can we speak in the person of Jesus," he said.
