About 500 sets of white and blue LED lights were used to adorn the exterior of the church, including the front porch, Mary’s grotto and St Anne’s shrine.

Dec 1 is World AIDS Day, and this year, the Catholic Church in Singapore marked the day with a special Mass at the Church of the Holy Spirit.

The annual event was planned by Catholic AIDS Response Effort (CARE), an organisation that runs a shelter for people living with HIV and AIDS who are destitute and homeless, as well as other support programmes for non-residents.

For 12-year-old Isaac Ephraim Fernando who suffers from Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, his short attention span means he finds it difficult to concentrate on his studies for long periods of time.

However through his effort and those of his parents and teachers at St Stephen’s School, he was able to score As in English, Chinese, Maths and Science in the Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE).
