VATICAN CITY – Pope Benedict XVI explained that his upcoming encyclical will not be a massive criticism deeming the market economy to be responsible for the current global financial crisis. Rather, it will be a presentation of the values that have to be “promoted and defended tirelessly” to achieve “human coexistence in freedom and solidarity”.

Pope Benedict made his comments while receiving participants in the international congress “Values and news for a new model of development”, organised by the Vatican Foundation “Centesimus Annus”.
