Mandarin-speaking Catholics say an annual Lenten programme for them have helped them prepare spiritually for Easter.

The programme, organised by the Commission for Apostolate of Mandarin-speaking in Singapore (CAMS), begins with the Stations of the Cross followed by a Mass.

It is held on five Wednesday evenings during Lent and draws a crowd of about 300-400 people.

The programme has been running for more than 25 years, according to CAMS.

This year’s Lenten programme is held at Church of the Risen Christ from Feb 29 to March 28.

Madam Ho, from Church of St Mary of Angels said the programme inspires participants to better examine and reflect on their lives during Lent, and reminds them of what “our faith is all about”.

Another participant, Madam Teresa Neo, said the programme is a reminder that “Christ is our saviour” and the need for sacrifice in the lives of Catholics.

Madam Tan, from the Church of the Risen Christ, said she finds the points raised by the priest during the homily useful for her spiritual growth.
