SINGAPORE – This Easter, 96 families of students from St. Anthony’s Canossian Secondary School who are in some form of financial need, received Easter hampers. The items were donated by students and alumni, and packed by parents, students and staff on Saturday Apr 4.

Chairperson of the parent-volunteer group Ms Allyson Fong said, “We like to get the students involved as it helps them to reach out to those less fortunate than themselves.”

The group has 150 parents, of whom 50 are constantly active. Ms Fong said that though the main aim of the group is to raise funds for needy students, it gets involved with other school activities too as a “way of giving back to the school”.

This is the second time the the group has embarked on a hamper project – the first was done over Lunar New Year this year. The group is planning to do a project for Hari Raya Puasa and Deepavali as well. - By Joyce Gan
