SINGAPORE - About 70 primary and secondary level catechists of Church of St. Mary of the Angels participated in their first stay-in Catechists' Conference at YWCA from Jun 22 to 24.

With the theme "Living Stones", catechists saw themselves through workshops and talks with the involvement of Singapore Pastoral Institute's Bernard Wee and Susanna Huang as "living stones making a spiritual house …with Christ as the cornerstone" (1 Pet 2:4-6).

Among the speakers was Chen Dinesh, Victoria, a catechist to Primary Five and special needs children at Church of St. Mary of the Angels. A speech and drama trainer, she shared with her fellow catechists tips on voice projection, the craft of storytelling and presentation skills.

The catechists were treated to a steamboat dinner (with great wine!) and a cable car ride on Saturday night.

Friar John-Paul Tan, who initiated the weekend, says that this will be the start of a yearly Catechists' Conference for the parish.
