IT IS WONDERFUL that we now have the "Ten commandments" for drivers from the Vatican (CN, Jul 8). There is now little excuse for Catholic drivers not to follow these guidelines and help bring down the large number of deaths due to traffic accidents caused by human error.
The 7th commandment, "Charitably convince the young and not so young not to drive when they are not in a fitting condition to do so" also implies that motorists should not drive when they drink.
Drink-driving is a serious offence punishable by law. To ensure that this message does not elude the attention of motorists, it would be good if another commandment, "Don't drive when you drink" is added to emphasize the point.
