IT IS ONLY right not to look at others with contempt, not only in church but everywhere else. I think if a peasant were to attend Mass in a poor village church without a shirt on God would still be very pleased, wouldn't he?

We need not be attired extravagantly when going to Mass but I think we would never think of dressing inappropriately when invited for a relative's or friend's wedding for instance. If we honour a friend with such consideration, what more when we go to church not only to honour but adore God? Wouldn't you want to be appropriately and respectfully attired for the Lord and Master? It is also mutual respect and consideration for our fellow worshippers. Dressing humbly is suitable, but if our dressing has the tendency to distract, I think we should reconsider.
