LOS ANGELES - Kevin Tan (centre) is seen enjoying himself on Mar 1 at the Los Angeles Religious Education Congress Youth Day, which was attended by over 15,000 young Catholics.
During the congress, "I was amazed by the enthusiastic and fervent display of the Catholic identity of the youths", said Kevin, a Singapore social worker who works with youths. "It made me proud to be Catholic," he said.
The congress featured liturgy, scriptural sharing, testimonies and music, lots of music, including a performance and a sharing by Tony Melendez who was born with no arms and a clubbed foot but taught himself to play the guitar with his feet. Tony previously played for Pope John Paul II.
