041.jpgSINGAPORE - CHIJ Our Lady of the Nativity (OLN) girls are called to make a difference, following their year-long 50th anniversary celebrations this year. The theme of the yearlong campaign "I Am the Difference" sees OLN students and staff encouraged to emulate the lives of inspirational people like Moses, Mother Teresa and Elizabeth Choy, who all made a difference in the lives of people around them. They are also exhorted to follow in the footsteps of the CHIJ Sisters and be symbols of positive difference and possibilities to others.

Physical symbols have been created by the school to help students and staff be more aware of the campaign. These symbols that have been adopted as part of the school uniform for the year, include a brightly coloured button badge and light blue and white wristbands, all carrying the campaign theme on them.

Other highlights include a revamped school website, launched by Sister Maria Lau, IJ Provincial, who reminded the girls about "the gift of life and how we should all take the opportunity to make a difference where we can".

There is also a specially written anniversary song, one of several original compositions compiled by the school with industry professionals into a 50th anniversary music CD, and personalized cashcards for everyone.

The school kicked off the celebrations officially on Feb 23. There will be more activities held throughout the year - an alumni reunion party, a 50th Anniversary Mass, a coffee table book and gala dinner, amongst others.
